This time Lok Shaba elections kick started with arch rivals DMK and AIADMK contesting elections without any alliances with national parties while BJP forming alliance with other parties like DMDK , PMK, MDMK forming a strong alliance and making tough fight in Tamil Nadu. Congress contesting separately in all constituencies in Tamil Nadu and making tough fight.

During the campaign were DMK leader and others were canvassing for their candidates and they say that AIADMK hasn’t done anything to the people of the state and they were complaining about CM hasn’t achieved hatred of the people and they want to recover people from them and they also want to solve the Sri Lankan issue and fisher man problems and electricity. Their communication strategy haven’t changed much from the previous elections they weren’t much e-friendly were there was many young voters in the country.

Were AIADMK were they made a huge sweep in state elections coming out as a single majority party in the state aiming the same this time around and were CM was aiming to win all the 39 seats in Lok Shaba election and strong contender for PM candidate for third front in the country. Were they hold disadvantage for not managing water resources and electrical problems for the people and the farmers in that area making little disadvantage in this area.

Congress were they have been having the history of winning with DMK support early but they are the generation politicians from same family having the local influence and popularity among the local people making the strong contentions.

They were youths and the people wishing him with handshakes and some even don’t smile at him. They followed the strategy were a group of 40 campaigned to voters through motorcycle in the streets. This might attract the youth in that area and they will provide a strong fight.

BJP alliance party candidate  from DMDK contesting in this area and family member of DMDK chief is standing even though there is strong enough support for PMK in this constituency they with BJP canvassed for DMDK candidate. The main stream of the campaign was held with BJP’s PM candidate Mr.Modi canvassed for him and they cashed on it with sympathy for Ramesh who was murder few months back. Were Modi says Congress knows only to talk and roll out schemes. But people are tired of promises and want action, to resolve problems what Congress haven’t done for 60 years of their rule. There he talks about sanitation , shelter, unemployment, electricity in other ways than Coal were it was looted by Congress. 75th anniversary of Independence in 2022, all people, mostly poor, would have houses, toilet facilities, power and schools in nearby areas, and nationalizing rivers were in C4D aspect he talked about proper sanitation that can develop the country and eliminate open defecation , and unemployment that has to decrease so that we can attain development. They constituency is hit with Modi wave and used social media to a great effect.
In south were it’s the constituency were all the main contenders are debutant  and the popularity is equally distributed and it’s the place to watch out for this time around.

CHENNAI SOUTH ,TAMIL NADU

R.Raghuman

CHENNAI: Forty-two candidates are in the fray from Chennai South Lok Sabha constituency, which has always witnessed maximum number of contestants for general elections.
While 43 contestants locked horns for the same seat in the 2009 polls, 35 crossed swords in the 2004 elections, the highest number both times for any Lok Sabha constituency in the country, according to Election Commission of India statistics.
"Chennai South generally receives lot of nominations. As of now, I can say it has 42 candidates, the maximum in the state. But the national scene will be known only after the last phase, since electoral process is still going on in other states," Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said.
Election Commission is planning to have one main control unit and three EVMs for each of the polling stations in Chennai South constituency, he said. While two of the EVMs would have 16 candidates, one EVM would have names of 10 candidates and the None of the Above Option (NOTA),he said.
Chennai South has sent political icons like former Union Finance Minister T T Krishnamachari, DMK founder and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C N Annadurai and former President R Venkataraman to the Lok Sabha.
While former Union Minister and DMK leader T R Baalu has won this seat for four consecutive terms between 1996 and 2004, his party colleague Murasoli Maran won the seat twice in 1967 and 1971.
Former President Venkataraman won the seat twice in 1977 and 1980 once each from Congress and Congress (Indira) respectively while actress and danseuse Vyjayanthimala Bali won twice in 1984 and 1989.
Of the 15 times since 1952, the Chennai South constituency went for polls, DMK won the seat eight times, Congress four, AIADMK two and Congress (Indira) one.
According to the statistics of the ECI, the maximum number of candidates in any constituency for any election in the country was at Modakurichi Assembly Constituency of Tamil Nadu in 1996, in which 1,033 candidates contested and the Election Commission was forced to give the ballot papers in the form of a booklet.

DMK has shifted its spokesman T K S Elangovan from Chennai North to South seat, hoping that he would fare well in the new constituency.
South Chennai comprises Virugambakkam, Saidapet, T Nagar, Mylapore, Velachery, Sholinganallur, Tambaram parts of which fall under IT corridor (Old Mahabalipuram Road) and Triplicane with a total electorate strength of about 11.62 lakh.
Though the seat remained a strong hold of DMK which had won eight times so far, AIADMK wrested it last time.
Some of the major issues that have been in the news are water scarcity and security of women. The ground water level has considerably reduced forcing many residents and IT companies to buy water from tanker lorries. Besides, safety of women working in IT companies in IT corridor has also come into sharp focus after the brutal murder and rape of an employee of a top IT company early this year.
“People have personally told me that ground water level is decreasing and it is becoming a major problem in some of the areas (in my constituency). I would also raise my voice for enhancing safety to women,” Elangovan told PTI.
“There are women who continuously work during nights. After the woman employee was raped and murdered in SIPCOT IT Park, many people said that shifts for working women should be between 9am and 5pm. But I am not for that. My priority is that women should be protected and their safety should be enhanced irrespective of what time they work,” he said.
Asked about BJP candidate Ganesan, he said the contest is between DMK and AIADMK.
“Even if BJP contests, there may be reduction of votes in AIADMK, but DMK votes will not get affected…,” Elangovan said.
On shifting his constituency from North Chennai to South Chennai, he said, “People of South Chennai know me well through my attendance (in Rajya Sabha) and through the issues taken by me (in Rajya Sabha). Moreover, my residence is in South Chennai constituency.”
Ganesan said he has set up a committee to address the issues faced by the locals.
“I have set up a committee to look after the continued…

Election campaign

AIADMK

‘This lady is better than Modi’

“Who is a better administrator? Is it Gujarat’s Modi or this Tamil Nadu lady?” asked Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa, inviting, for the first time, a direct comparison between herself and the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate.
As the crowd replied “Lady!” in one voice, Ms. Jayalalithaa thundered again, “Tamil Nadu’s lady is better than Gujarat’s Modi in providing better administration in all spheres of governance.”
‘More inclusive’
Winding up her over-a-month-long campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Chennai, Ms. Jayalalithaa went on to say that as far as Human Development Indicators went, Tamil Nadu was way better. “Tamil Nadu’s growth story is much more inclusive, it is one in which the poor have a role to play,” she said, quoting statistics from Human Development Index.
Dip in crimes
Among the indicators she summoned to emphasise her point were infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate, foodgrains production, industrial growth, foreign direct investment and beneficiaries under the public distribution system. In all these areas, Tamil Nadu was way ahead of Gujarat, and as far as crimes against women went, Tamil Nadu recorded a dip while Gujarat witnessed a 65 per cent increase, she added.
A change in government at the Centre was essential, she said, urging the electorate to strengthen her hands so that the AIADMK would be a part of the new government to safeguard the rights of Tamils.
BJP

Modi attacks AIADMK, DMK for ignoring people's concern

Hitting back at AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa, BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday charged the ruling party and its arch-rival DMK with showing no concern about the people and concentrating efforts to settle political scores whenever they were in power.
"Tamil Nadu was divided between AIADMK and DMK and people had no choice beyond them. They waste their time to finish off each other. When AIADMK is in power, it targets DMK and vice-versa. They are not worried about the welfare of the people," he charged at an election rally here.
His sharp attack on AIADMK came hours after Jayalalithaa surprised the saffron party with her first ever barb in her campaign, painting the BJP and Congress with the same brush on the issue of inter-state Cauvery water sharing.
The offensive came amid speculations in the state that Jayalalithaa, who has a good personal rapport with Modi, would be the natural ally of the NDA in the post election scenario and the persistent attack by Congress that AIADMK was the "B Team" of BJP.
Jayalalithaa's soft approach towards the BJP by not talking about it in her electioneering has attracted strong criticism by her political opponents including Congress leader P Chidambaram, who had described AIADMK as the B-Team of BJP.
However, slamming Congress, DMK and BJP for their "betrayal" of the state on the vexed river water dispute, Jayalalithaa today asked the electorate to give a firm drubbing to the candidates of all three parties, saying they should lose deposit.
Making a strong pitch for the NDA's six-party alliance in the state, Modi claimed it had emerged as the third alternative to the two major Dravidian parties and also a force to reckon with in the April 24 Lok Sabha polls.
"This alliance comprising DMDK and MDMK among others will bring in a new hope and confidence to the people of Tamil Nadu," he said promising to deliver on various issues concerning the state such as attacks on fishermen.
With Tamils living all over the world, including in Malayasia, Sri Lanka and Fiji, it should be a priority of the union government to take care of their well being, he said and promised to do so if a BJP-led Government assumes power after the elections.
He said a strong and determined government was the need of the hour as small countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh were poking the country and they have to be met eye-on-eye and dealt with strongly.
