The Parliamentary Constituency of Arani is one of the 39 Lok Sabha Constituencies of Tamil Nadu. 1,097,865 is the total electorate count in the Arani Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 12). Out of these 552,876 number of electorates are males and the remaining 544,989 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest. It was created after the implementation of the Presidential Notification of the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies in 2008. It constitutes of six Vidhan Sabha segments of which one is reserved for the SC category and the constituency currently has over 1,097,000 electors. Arani is a suburb belonging to the Chennai city and belongs to the Tiruvallur District and stands at a height of 7 m.

DMK is contesting with very few parties as alliance and has very less vote bank and campaigning against AIADMK party.

In cheyyar (Arani Lok Sabha Constituency), Stalin said that “We are not coming here occasionally to meet you people but we are always with you and it is with this right that I have come to meet you. While police is providing protection at the ground, the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is flying by a helicopter. I came to this place by road, because by being in air, the Chief Minister would not be able to understand the problem of the people on land”. He mentioned about power cut, price raise in tamilnadu during AIADMK period.

A grand stage has been erected at Vadathandalam village on the Cheyyaru-Arani high way which comes under the Arani Lok Sabha Constituency, where Chief Minister deliver her campaign speech (“Seiveergalaa Neengal Seiveergalaa”) and gather support for the Arani Lok Sabha Constituency.   AIADMK parties campaign was mass in this constituency. Before this IT Minister N. Subramaniyan takes initiative for various aspects of campaigning like rally, street meetings, going to meet voters directly on door to door campaign and etc.,

Chief Minister pointed out that the chances of forming a Government in Karnataka for the Congress and the BJP were more or less equal and these two parties have been forming the Government alternately in the state. But the Congress or the BJP can never form a Government in Tamil Nadu. For this reason, Tamil Nadu would be betrayed for sure, no matter whether the BJP or the Congress forms the Government at the centre, she observed.

She appealed to the people to make the candidates of the Congress, DMK and the BJP, who have been betraying Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue, lose their deposits in Lok Sabha election 2014.
